LGBTQ PROMS & DANCING: I've watched my nieces get dressed up to go to the prom which got me to thinking. I've had a few opportunities to go out with a girlfriend to a dance but not in a few years. I can't imagine what it would be like to never experience the joy of dancing with a partner or just dressing up to go somewhere that I would be accepted. I know I'm lucky.

I see a few events coming up that will help all of us get out and about. Sevier Co. LGBTQIA2S +Allies group is holding their 2nd Queer in Sevier Adult Prom Benefiting the Sevier LGBTQIA2S+ & Allies on June 10, 2022, at 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Sevier Civic Center Sevierville TN. The theme is "All that glitters". The cost is $17.99 by Eventbrite or $25 at the door.

East TN Diversity Prom GLSEN Tennessee DivProm is for high school students' grades 9th-12th. Homeschoolers are welcome. It will be at Lakeshore Park, Knoxville TN, May 28, 2022, 7:00pm - 9:00 pm. Admission is Free. (I don't know how they are doing IDs but bring a school ID just in case.) The 2019 Diversity Prom was covered by CNN June 23, 2019 "How a diversity prom allows LGBTQ students to be their authentic selves."

If you want to learn to dance visit Social Dance for Every Body with Knox Pride on May 16, 2022 5:15 pm - 6:45 pm at Knox Pride Center. They are teaching you how to dance popular dances in lead or follow roles. Admission is $10. (The event says no one will be turned away because of inability to pay.)
