(I talked to the Resource Parent Support Team Coordinator of the Knoxville TN office. She said they are excited to be included in this resource directory. They are in need of foster parents. Please call them if you can find space in your heart and home for a foster child.  ~Beau)

Therapeutic foster care parents provide stability and hope for children who have been abused or neglected. We have a need for families willing to accept children who are gay, lesbian and transgender. Some of these children are sitting in facilities waiting for homes. If you have room in your home and love in your heart, we desperately need you!! Harmony Family Center Last year there were over 9,000 children in foster care in Tennessee. Many of these children spend years in the foster care system, enduring numerous placements. The majority face significant challenges as a result of experiencing traumatic abuse and neglect, including attachment disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Harmony has developed a network of statewide programs designed to provide the help and support these children and their adoptive families need to be successful. From finding families for at-risk children to supporting adoptive and guardianship families and providing training and advocacy, Harmony’s programs are intended to support the many forms of permanency and its wide-reaching benefits for children, families, and the community. 118 Mabry Hood Rd Ste 400, Knoxville, TN (865) 982-5225 @HarmonyFamilyCenter Email

The McNabb Center’s therapeutic foster care program serves children and teens who are in the state’s custody due to abuse or neglect, and who have behavioral or emotional problems. These children need a more specialized type of care than what they can find in standard foster homes. The purpose of therapeutic foster care is to help each child so that he or she may go on to live successfully within the community. 2455 Sutherland Ave, Knoxville, TN (865) 544-5070 1-800-255-9711

"Foster Care & Adoption Foster parents provide nurturing and supportive homes in which the children’s emotional, physical and social needs can be met, while issues and concerns in the immediate family can be addressed.  When parents cannot, or will not, make their home safe for the child’s return, other permanent options are sought. TN Foster Parents are dually approved to adopt, which means they have the first option of adopting a child they have fostered, or another child who has become eligible for adoption.  If you are interested in fostering a child or learning more about becoming a Foster Parent for Tennessee children, please call 877-DCS-KIDS "
